Welcome to the Writing Center at Archbishop Carroll High School. We work toward two important and complementary goals.

We strive to improve and highlight our students’ academic writing. Through teacher assistance, one-on-one tutoring, in-class and out-of-class programs, as well as elective writing courses, we seek to better our students’ writing such that they will succeed in writing at the college level.

While working primarily with the English Department, we also work with other academic departments to enable them to create, assign, and assess writing in their disciplines.

We also strive to stimulate, enhance, and highlight our students’ creative writing. Through programs such as Poetry Slams, YP2YP, Young Poets to Young Poets, So It Shall Be Written, Carroll’s literary magazine, elective courses, and facilitating student reading in poetry venues around the city, we seek to encourage and showcase Carroll’s talented student writers.
